Newest arrival marks 1,600 jobs created at Leeds business park
Sterling Capitol’s Capitol Park West in south Leeds has now created 1,600 quality and sustainable jobs following the arrival of Barratt Homes at the business park.
Barratt Homes has just moved into Raynham House at Capitol Park, by Junction 28 of the M62, taking 12,700 sq ft on a five-year at £16.50 per sq ft.
The company has brought more than 80 staff to Capitol Park, taking the total number of employees on the park to more than 1,600.
Mike Heydecke, director of Sterling Capitol, commented: “Job creation has always been at the heart of our company’s plans at our three Yorkshire business parks in Leeds, Barnsley and Goole. Breaking the 1,600 jobs barrier at Capitol Park makes us very proud indeed.
“The diverse companies on site in Leeds site include Hermes, Henderson Insurance Brokers, dePuy, the NHS, AvailableCar, Ideal Heating and the Village Hotel. We are now delighted to welcome Barratt Homes.”
Ian Ruthven, managing director at Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, added: “Looking for new office space can often be a testing time for businesses, but we are very pleased with the new premises we have secured at Capitol Park, which offers great facilities in a brilliant location - perfect for our established and growing team at Barratt Homes.
“The new office at Raynham House provides the business with more space for their expanding team following a series of hires over the past year. It is home to more than 80 members of staff, providing Barratt with room for expansion as the housebuilding market within the region continues to grow.
“These are very exciting times for us at Barratt Yorkshire West. Over that past year we have invested in growing and developing our team, which has culminated in us sourcing our new offices.”
Elizabeth Ridler, partner with property consultancy Knight Frank’s Leeds office, who advised Sterling Capitol, said: “Developers Sterling Capitol have created one of the most impressive business parks in Yorkshire, with an excellent mix of tenants and facilities. This significant deal proves that business locations such as Capitol Park remain popular in a rapidly improving economic climate.
“Barratts were looking for a self-contained high-quality and attractive office space in an excellent location for more than 90 employees. Capitol Park ticked all the boxes. It is next to the M62 and within five minutes of the M1, so it has tremendous access to Yorkshire’s superb motorway network.”
