Russell Richardson support SheffieldFC to bring football home
Russell Richardson, Sheffield’s document management and recycling experts are the latest company to join Sheffield FC’s 1857 club; a unique partnership of local companies committed to supporting the campaign to return The World’s First Football Club to its original Sheffield home and the birthplace of football - Olive Grove.
Launched by Sheffield FC chairman, Richard Tims, the 1857 club is an opportunity for 100 regional companies to pledge their support to The Sheffield FC Foundation’s Home of Football Project whilst promoting the heritage and values of the beautiful game.
“As the owner of a business proud to be rooted in Sheffield, I was keen for the company to support the project and join the 1857 club,” said Jonathan Richardson, managing director at Russell Richardson. “It’s not just about the football, or the benefits that come with the membership, it’s about likeminded businesses coming together to protect the amazing football history we have in our city and create a local facility that will benefit the whole region; not only as a tourist attraction but also a community facility through the Sheffield Football Club Foundation.”
With a growing international identity, Sheffield FC have a unique place in history. Currently playing at its ground in Dronfield, the club’s Home of Football project aims to build a new ground and bespoke facility, including a history and education centre, located at Olive Grove, on the land where the first and oldest Football Club in the world was founded and the game of football was born.
