Salix Homes strikes gold
A housing association has struck gold after being awarded a prestigious accolade.
Salix Homes, which owns more than 8,300 homes across central Salford, has been awarded the Gold Standard in the Investors in People award, in recognition of the way it develops, supports and motivates its employees.
The housing association, which employs around 370 people, was commended by judges for its clear vision, effective team working and strong staff training programmes to encourage personal development.
The award comes less than a year after Salix Home launched as a stand-alone, not-for-profit housing association, after tenants voted to transfer ownership of their homes from Salford Council to Salix Homes.
Lee Sugden, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: “Achieving the Gold Standard is a tremendous achievement for Salix Homes, particularly within the first year of us being a stand-alone housing association.
“We are extremely proud of this accolade and we look forward to building on the solid foundation it has set within our organisation.
“Our employees are at the heart of everything we do and their individual skills, commitment and dedication are vital to delivering the high standard of housing services that the people of Salford deserve.”
The award comes following a rigorous assessment process by Investors in People – a framework which sets the standard for people management. The Gold Standard is the highest level of recognition which organisations can achieve and is only given to those that are able to demonstrate a degree of excellence in the way they develop and support their staff.
Steve Burrows, managing director of Investors in People North of England, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Salix Homes and I would like to congratulate the team on their success. We believe that good people make a great business and as a proven organisational development framework, Investors in People is designed to help organisations and their people to realise potential, enhance performance and meet goals. With their Gold accreditation, Salix Homes is certainly working to realise their people potential.”
