Doncaster’s Frenchgate Shopping Centre welcomes a raft of new brands and upsizes
Doncaster’s Frenchgate Shopping Centre is set to welcome further additions and significant investment to its retail line-up.
The Frenchgate Limited Partnership has announced that, along with a substantial upsize for JD Sports and the addition of F. Hinds Jewellers, seven other retailers have signed up for new fit outs at the destination.
JD Sports is to relocate and upsize to an 8,500 sq ft store, almost three times its original size, adjacent to HMV and EE on the first floor. Also located on the first floor, F. Hinds has recently opened a new 1,100 sq ft store.
To accommodate the moves, Dorothy Perkins will be relocating to a 3,600 sq ft store on the ground floor and Miss Selfridge will be relocating to the first floor as part of a proposed new fit out with TopShop.
In addition, numerous existing retailers at Frenchgate including H&M, Topshop Topman, Next, H. Samuel and Quiz have announced plans to refurbish their current stores.
This follows the recent new deals and fit outs at Frenchgate for Ed’s Easy Diner, Garage Shoes and jewellery department stores, Pandora and Argento.
In total, the 14 brands constitute over 83,000 sq ft and approximately £2.75m of investment in store fit outs.
Commenting on the news on behalf of The Frenchgate Limited Partnership, Paul Devlin said: “These recent exciting retailer and food and beverage deals add to the impressive line-up at Frenchgate and strengthen its position in the region. 2015 saw the addition of 22 lettings and we have already added 6 more since the beginning of the year.
“We continue to actively manage our offer to provide local and regional consumers with the best choice possible when they visit. This is an on-going process and there will be further exciting announcements in the forthcoming months with a further five deals currently in solicitors’ hands.”
Warren Thompson, group acquisitions manager at JD Sports, added: “We are very pleased to have increased our space amongst the strong retail line-up at Frenchgate. The continually strong performance of this store naturally led us to invest and we are confident that the high footfall we receive at Frenchgate will continue to make this one of our most important locations.”
Frenchgate’s latest additions follow a total of 22 new lettings in 2015, totalling almost 65,000 sq ft of space, which includes a 15,800 sq ft store for New Look.
Rawstron Johnson and Time Retail Partners acted for Frenchgate.
