Snowsport Scotland Announce Return of FIS Race

National Governing Body, Snowsport Scotland has announced it will be holding its second FIS race in the Cairngorm mountains as well as Nevis Range following the success of its first FIS race in Austria earlier this year and as part of the body’s continued efforts to deliver world class events across the country and Europe.

To be held at Aviemore, the event will include two slaloms and two giant slaloms and will provide racers from across the country with the opportunity to battle it out in – what is likely to be – one of the final races of the season. Events will be held for both male and female competitors and will include:

Thursday 7th April: Team Captain’s Meeting 20.00 Aviemore Hilton Hotel Friday 8th April: FIS Slalom at Nevis range (2 races) Saturday 9th April: FIS Slalom at Cairngorm Sunday 10th April: FIS Slalom at Cairngorm

Speaking about the event, Mike Pilarski, Chief of Race said: “Snowsports Scotland’s first venture into the FIS races earlier this year in Austria proved such a success with all racers, that we have absolutely no doubt this event will be of the same calibre.”

And with top racers expected to attend including Giant Slalom success, Alex Tilley, Snowsports Scotland’s continued efforts to hold races that attract the highest performing races, in the best conditions and on a worldwide stage seem to be proving popular with skiers and coaches alike.

Our first step into FIS races in Austria earlier this year demonstrated our ability to hold events at the highest level and on a stage which attracted some of the world’s very best ski talent, said Ross Gardner, Performance Manager at Snowsports Scotland.

“Delivering this event successfully meant we were very confident in organising an event of the same calibre in one of Scotland’s best ski areas and where we know we will attract athletes and coaches of the best calibre.”

The event will be sponsored by Rossignol and is expected to attract many of the world’s highest performing racers as well as members of the British Squads competing against national teams from top skiing nations including France, Italy, the USA, Germany and Austria. Any athletes interested in taking part should contact Snowsport Scotland direct or alternatively log onto the website to register.
