Charity windfall for Great Western Air Ambulance

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has selected the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) as its latest Community Champion, donating £1,000 to the rescue service.

The air ambulance service, which serves Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and parts of Wiltshire, is funded entirely by the generosity of the general public. From road traffic collisions to medical emergencies, the GWAAC is one of the busiest air ambulance services in the UK that offers the most advanced pre-hospital care in the country.

Emma Carter, head of fundraising and marketing at the GWAA, said: “On behalf of the GWAAC team I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you. “We provide an emergency life-saving, rapid response service and last year carried out 1,655 missions, but rely solely on voluntary donations. It’s support like this from Persimmon that helps us continue our service.”

Nicola Reed, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “Everyone knows just how vital the GWAAC service is, so it’s important that we offer our full support.

“I’m delighted that we can contribute to the charity with a £1,000 donation through our Community Champions scheme. Of course it was a difficult decision to select the air ambulance with such a high standard of applications, but I would advise those people who have missed out this time – even if they have won previously – to apply again.”
