SES Engineering Services achieves BRE BIM certification

SES Engineering Services (SES), which has a major regional HQ in Yorkshire, has become the first mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractor (MEP) to achieve BRE BIM Level 2 Business Certification one month ahead of the government’s public sector project compliance deadline.

A specialist in off-site manufacture, with its Yorkshire office in York, SES has been an early adopter of BIM, using 3D modelling on projects for over 15 years and embedding data into models since 2010.

As strong proponents of process efficiency in construction, SES sees BIM and its integrational benefits as key to driving continuous improvement in the delivery of MEP services which can be challenging and complex.

In addition to its Manchester office, leading national engineering specialist SES also has offices in York, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, London and North Shields as well as a dedicated off-site manufacturing facility, PRISM, in York.

SES Managing Director, Mark Perkins commented: “SES is very proud of becoming the first MEP specialist contractor to achieve Level 2 certification. It supports the SES brand, our strategy and our reputation for technical authority.

“BIM is a major strand of our strategic differentiation and is key in our approach to bringing innovation and flair to all our proposals. We look forward to using our certification as a catalyst to becoming more heavily involved in the BIM journeys for all our customers.”

SES was recently awarded its certificate at Ecobuild, the leading UK exhibition and conference for the construction and energy market.

BRE Director, BIM, Guy Hammersley added: “Being the first MEP company to achieve BIM business certification represents a great achievement for SES, we hope their positive action will encourage others to follow their lead and keep pace with this business critical industry development.”
