York and NY Chamber support leads to contract wins for Scarborough tech firm
A North Yorkshire total-solutions IT firm has been awarded two new contracts due to the help from York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, part of West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
Scarborough-based Care Micro Systems, which was founded in 1992 and also has a base in Leeds, has won contracts with Leeds Beckett University and FSBD Ltd, Malton, through introductions made at York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce networking events.
Leeds Beckett University’s Enterprise and Innovation Hub, a patron of West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, contracted Care Micro Systems to support business tenants in its fully-managed office suites by setting up appropriate individual systems as they move in and to support them throughout the period of their lease.
FSBD Ltd, the freelance sales and business development company, wanted Care Micro Systems to devise and implement a system that enabled users to share digital documents internally while still being able to access numerous clients separately and securely.
Mike Shingler, Care Micro Systems managing director, said: “We value all of our customers highly and are confident that the connections made through York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce will become long-term relationships which are valuable to our business development.
“We provide both computer products and services and rely heavily on referrals from satisfied customers and partners. Winning these two accounts has shown that being able to meet and talk to potential clients during an informal event, such as a York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce lunch, is a very effective way to convince a prospect of our ability to provide a quality service based on their individual needs.”
Originally established as an IT hardware supply and maintenance provider to businesses in Yorkshire and surrounding counties, Care Micro Systems formed a software support department in 1996 to help companies with all its increasing software requirements.
The company is now a total solutions provider offering services including offsite backup, disaster recovery, broadband Internet, computer networks, VoIP telephony and security. In 2008, Care Micro systems became one of the first Microsoft Cloud partners in the UK and has so far migrated more than 2000 users onto Microsoft’s Office 365.
Care Micro Systems currently has 15 full time staff plus approved contractors, a turnover of around £750k and clients throughout the UK.
Susie Cawood, Head of York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, commented: “In an increasingly virtual world, where people do business over the web and often do not meet, we are finding that when representatives of companies do get together and talk in a convivial atmosphere, they are keen to hear what each other does and very often identify services they need which lead to business contracts.
“We are delighted that our networking events have created these connections for Care Micro Systems and are sure that they will go onto even greater success.”
