Global outdoor sports firm works with Gateshead recruiters to grow Cramlington base

Global outdoor sporting firm Scott Sports has chosen Gateshead-based Westray Recruitment Consultants to help it grow its UK branch, based in Cramlington.

Westray is helping Scott Sports, which has a £300m turnover, to recruit additional staff to support its 25-strong team.

The firm is strengthening their marketing, customer service, finance and aftersales departments due to the recent acquisitions of Syncros, Outdoor Research and Bergamont Bikes, which will create significant growth.

To service the new contract, Westray is expanding itself, partnering with Access Training to recruit a new employee – apprentice administrator, Aaron Wadey.

Business development manager Ashleigh Wright said: “We are incredibly pleased to win this new contract with the global brand, Scotts Sport. It has come on the back of three years of hard work trying to secure the deal so I’m personally delighted.

“Our commercial division is thriving and expanding, meaning we required additional administrative support. Because we’ve recently recruited experienced consultants, we wanted to do our bit to support the apprenticeship programme, so we turned to Access Training to help us employ an apprentice who we can develop. We have found a stellar employee in Aaron. He has very much exceeded our expectations and is already being mentored to work in a client-facing capacity.

“Because we differentiate ourselves from competitors on quality of service, we have high expectations of our staff and Aaron is a shining example of how an apprentice, despite being young, can be incredibly valuable to a business. He is very mature, highly professional, takes pride in his appearance and learns very quickly.”
