Datum360 Supporting Children’s Charity and World Cup Roller Derby Team
Engineering information management specialist, Datum360, has nominated Aberdeen based children’s charity, Befriend a Child, as its chosen charity for 2016.
Established over 40 years ago, Befriend a Child provides children and young people in the North East growing up in difficult circumstances with a positive adult role model. This comes in the shape of a Volunteer Befriender or Mentor, who engages with a child on a regular basis to help them with their development into adulthood.
The team at Datum360 chose the preferred charity following an in house vote with all members of the business asked to select the charity they wanted to support for the coming year.
Datum360 has already made a donation to the charity and has found a unique way to raise awareness with its specially produced Datum360 rubber ducks. The business will be taking the ducks to each UK industry event it exhibits at and will be giving them away with every voluntary contribution.
Staff are also be encouraged to participate in the charity’s annual events. Craig Howieson, Information Management Consultant at Datum360 has already successfully completed the Run Garioch Dandara 10k on behalf of Befriend a Child – raising just over £300 for the children’s charity.
Speaking about their selection, Steve Wilson, CEO and Co-Founder at Datum360 said: “Our CSR programme is very important to us, we very much want to give back, invest in our local community and contribute to raising the profile of such worthwhile charitable causes.
“It has been great to see such fantastic engagement from our employees across all levels and we’re all looking forward to raising money for a charity which plays such an influential role in shaping young people’s lives in Aberdeen.”
Befriend a Child helps children between the ages of 4-18 years old, who have often come from troubled family backgrounds of parental drug and alcohol misuse, abuse and/or neglect. The charity provides support to over 300 children in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire each year.

The company chose to support the roller derby team as one of its employee’s, Chris Tough, Project Consultant at Datum360 plays for the national team.
Steve added: “We are really proud of Chris for making it on to Scotland’s National Team. I am delighted that we have been able to support the team in a practical way and here at Datum360 we will all be rooting for the team to do well this summer.”
