Local business woman named in Power List
Local business woman Emma Elston MBE has been featured in the highly-acclaimed Top 50 Power List of business women in the North of England.
The co-director of the UK’s leading container repair and refurbishment company, based in Winnington, has been honoured with the inclusion following her determined success over the years.
Established by Northern Power Women - a collaborative campaign to improve gender diversity from the North of England – it is the very first ‘Top 50 Power List’ and recognises the leaders and change makers who are making a positive difference and impact.
Members of the Top 50 Power List provide both the inspiration and opportunity to women in the workplace. They challenge the norm and ensure that everyone they work with recognises the benefit of have a gender-balanced workplace.
Emma commented: “I am overjoyed to be included in the Top 50 Power List as improving gender diversity is something I’m very passionate about. For a long time, the waste industry was quite male-dominated but this is now changing rapidly which is great to see.”
Having set up UKCM from a spare room in 1998, Emma and her husband risked everything to establish the £5m+ container repair and refurbishment company.
Emma’s commitment and determination has seen her become a UK-leading voice in the business community as well as the waste industry. Emma also invests her time mentoring people from all walks of life, either helping them make the step into the world of business or providing them with advice that makes a difference to their way of working.
