Simply too much at stake to leave EU
Matt Ainscough, CEO of rapidly-expanding national integrated engineering services provider, Ainscough Industrial Services (AIS), believes there is ‘simply too much at stake for the UK to leave the EU’.
He said: “A vote to leave would seriously risk jeopardising the expansion and commercial viability of UK engineering companies like AIS, currently thriving by supporting manufacturing projects on the continent.
“As a national integrated engineering services provider we provide a full suite of specialist operations on projects at home and across Europe coordinated from our 10 UK bases. A decision to sever the UK and Europe’s invaluable close relationship would present serious logistical challenges and could potentially impact AIS’s competitive market positioning.
“The EU accounts for between 40 to 50 per cent of the UK’s exports and our relationship with our European clients is invaluable to our expert installation, mechanical, pipework, electrical, fabrication, technical lifting, logistics and automation services teams.
“Creating difficulty in renegotiating trade agreements could seriously knock UK based manufacturers’ confidence and crucially stifle investment for companies, especially in volatile and sensitive markets such as engineering which is only recently showing signs of recovery to post recession level.”
