Transmit Start-Ups launches Newcastle-based business support events

Lessons taken from the success of Elvis Presley’s multi-million dollar empire will be the inspiration behind a series of business events, set to take place in Newcastle over the next year.

Organised by a partnership of Transmit Start-Ups, Transmit Enterprise CIC and Business and IP Centre Newcastle, the aim of the sessions is to provide support for fledgling companies.

The first event, Finance For Your Start-Up, will take place at Newcastle City Library on Thursday 5 May from 5pm –8.15pm.

Beginning with with a panel discussion, the session will feature representatives from different financial support sectors, case studies of businesses that have already raised finance and a question and answer session from the floor.

Networking with free drinks and information from exhibitors will top and tail the event.

During the panel-discussion, the difference between alternative and traditional finance, the pros and cons of both and how to access bank loans, peer loans, crowdfunding, invoice finance and equity deals will all be explained.

There is no charge for the event but places must be booked via www.takingcareofbiz.co.uk where there is also additional information.

Richard Myers, director of Transmit Start-Ups, explained: “One of the most successful entertainers was Elvis Presley who still produces substantial income for his estate.

“Elvis had a proud motto of ’Taking Care of Business in a Flash“ or TCB, which he had emblazoned all around him, even on his private jet. We wanted these events to inspire the same positive, can-do attitude in our entrepreneurs.“

The organisers are currently pulling together guest speakers for the panel which will be announced soon. Updates can be followed on the Twitter hashtag #takingcareofbiz.

The second event in the series will be on Thursday, 14 July, where the topic will be Business Support, followed by Mentoring & Coaching on Thursday, 13 October.
