Arrival of two new food outlets creates 24 jobs at St John’s shopping centre in Leeds
Two new food outlets are relocating to St Johns Shopping Centre in Leeds.
Stampede, the ribs, wings and burger grill, opened its second UK outlet on April 20th at the shopping centre.
This is being closely followed by the opening of Pound Bakery’s third Leeds store, which will take place on April 26th.
The arrival of the two food outlets has created 24 new jobs at St Johns.
Susan Mendoza, the new centre manager, said: “There’s a real buzz at St Johns, with new shops and food outlets opening this month.”
“Our shoppers love coming to their favourite shops but also trying something new – whether that’s fashion or flavourful food.”
Independently owned Stampede opened on Wednesday. The St Johns branch has created 10 new jobs in its 2,000 sq ft unit on Albion Street.
Stampede’s founder Steven Novak said: “We have pulled together years of experience to create fast food that is also great food.
“We think Stampede will really stir things up and provide a great value alternative to people in Leeds. The demand for best ribs, wings and burgers is huge, and the high footfall location within St Johns is absolutely ideal for our second restaurant.”
On April 26th, Pound Bakery opens its doors in an 870 sq ft unit between Card Factory and Virgin Media. The bakery and café branch brings another 14 jobs to St Johns Shopping Centre.
Mark Proudlove, from St Johns’ retail property consultants Barker Proudlove, said: “It is great news that an exciting new entrant to the city in Stampede has committed to Leeds and St Johns for their second UK branch, and Pound Bakery shows their continued commitment to Leeds in taking a new outlet in the Northern Quarter.”
