£1/4m forklift investment for roofing firm
As part of its capital investment programme manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has invested £250,000 in replacing and upgrading its forklift trucks with eight new vehicles.
The 3.5 tonne fork lifts from Lansing Linde bringing the total fleet to 18 vehicles. The new fork lift trucks were built to Russell Roof Tiles own specification, designed to make fewer trips and meet the latest EU emission targets.
Russell Roof Tiles is the UK’s only manufacturer accredited with “Excellent” for BES 6001: Issue 3, demonstrating the firm is investing in sustainability across the business from procurement to energy management.
Russell Roof Tiles is a pioneering independent roof tile manufacturer, providing roofing solutions for leading UK house builders and high profile social housing projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority. The company is now the third largest manufacturer in the UK by volume, with an annual turnover of over £30m.
Bruce Laidlaw, Russell Roof Tiles Production Director commented: “This latest investment means that the new forklifts can load full lorry loads in 12 trips x2 pallets, rather than 24 trips x single pallets, allowing for more efficient working.
“The vehicles were specified to make loading quicker, more time and fuel efficient and cost effective - also reducing yard vehicle movements which making the process safer.”
