MSP steps up as North West science conference sponsor
Science and technology park operator Manchester Science Partnerships (MSP) has announced its support for the Business of Science Conference.
MSP, which operates several sites in the North West for entrepreneurs and scientists, including the Cheshire-based biotech and life sciences hub Alderley Park, has signed a sponsorship deal with event organiser Science North Limited.
Rowena Burns, the chief executive at MSP, said: “We’re delighted to sponsor the Business of Science Conference.
“The industry is one of the fastest growing sectors within the UK and it is crucial that we, as a city, play a pivotal role in supporting the creation and growth of knowledge driven science and technology businesses.”
Earlier this week, new data shed light on the multi-billion pound contribution that the life sciences sector is making towards the realisation of the Northern Powerhouse.
Speaking further, Rowena said: “At MSP, we are dedicated to supporting our growing community of scientists, innovators, investors and entrepreneurs, and believe that continued investment into the development of such businesses will reinforce our determination that collectively as a region we can create an industry base here in Manchester which is of global standing.”
The conference, set to be held at Manchester’s Museum of Science and industry next month, forms part of a wider programme of events designed to celebrate the city’s status as the European City of Science.
Discussions at the event will look at the ways in which development and commercialisation in science can drive growth across the North.
The MD of Science North Limited, Steve Bennett, commented: “Manchester Science Partnerships is at the forefront of connecting great ideas in science and technology and their support for this conference programme underlines their commitment to the North’s science sector.”
