AHR London acquires architecture practice to strengthen its residential and housing offering

The London office of international architecture firm AHR has announced the acquisition of architecture practice PCKO.

The Clerkenwell-based architects, who are most well known for their large-scale, mixed-use schemes, hope the deal will help them to strengthen their offering in ‘delivering innovative residential and affordable housing projects’ as well as ‘large scale masterplans’.

PCKO, who also have an office in Shanghai, were established in 1981 and in that time have developed a reputation for their housing projects, including Finsbury Park Place and Church End in Brent.

In a statement, Michael Walters, Managing Director at AHR London, said: “PCKO is a like-minded practice and from the first meeting, the team felt this will be a great move. The acquisition will not just allow AHR to grow quickly and bolster our capabilities in the residential sector, but we’ll be adding further creative and knowledgeable people to our practice that will enhance the projects we work on in the future.

Andrew Ogorzalek, Director at PCKO, added: “This is a really exciting move for us. With our portfolio, track record and long established working relationships with our clients we feel we can make a strong contribution. AHR’s size and reputation will enable us to move to the next level and start competing for work on a larger scale.”

As part of the deal, PCKO will continue to operate under its own name as an AHR Company at the firm’s Clerkenwell office, while PCKO’s David de Sousa and Wai Lun Ho will join AHR as Directors.
