MAPWAY APPOINT SENIOR iOS DEVELOPER

Manchester-based app development company, Mapway, has announced the appointment of Michael Atkins-Spelling as Senior iOS Developer.

Michael joins after five years as a Mobile Applications Developer working at the BBC on the iPlayer Radio app and will focus on enhancing Mapway’s global base of public transport apps for Apple devices.

Mapway CEO David James said: “As a growing business Michael’s appointment is crucial in driving forward and enhancing the iOS apps we develop. His experience and achievements will be vital in ensuring Mapway apps offer the best user experience and support to those travelling on public transport around the world and we’re delighted to have him on board.”

Michael’s role fills one of a number Mapway have been recruited for as they expand their team and will involve developing features on Mapway’s 26 iOS apps, across iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch for transport systems such as the London’s Underground and New York’s Subway. His focus will be on implementing Apple’s latest working practices across Mapway apps and exploring new ways to increase user engagement.

On his recent appointment Michael commented: “I’m delighted to join Mapway and be given the opportunity to enhance their suite of apps that benefit users across the globe. From the iconic Tube Map London Underground to Singapore Metro and Beijing Subway, working across a number of apps simultaneously will be an exciting challenge. Recently the business has been concentrating on their Android offering and worked with Google to launch ten new apps to the Google Play Store in under twelve months. This dedication to producing high quality Android apps paid off as Mapway are now an accredited Google ‘Top Developer’. I’m looking forward to doing the same with Apple and driving the iOS part of the business by championing Apple’s take on developing features and functionality.”
