Why Big is Beautiful For Holidaymakers

BIG is proving to be beautiful for families and friends looking to holiday in Northumberland this summer.

As the trend for Staycation holidays continues, a leading holiday letting agency has reported a significant rise in the number of requests for properties able to host larger groups of holidaymakers.

And, to meet demand, Cottages in Northumberland, which rents out more than 160 coastal, countryside and city holiday properties in the county and across Tyneside, has unveiled a portfolio of 15 houses, each able to sleep eight or more visitors.

Among its larger properties are The Moorings, at Beadnell, Northumberland, which sleeps 11 and overlooks the beach; five bedroomed Longsands Lodge at Tynemouth, which sleeps 10 and The Granary, a traditional, stone-built barn conversion sleeping 9 in Bamburgh, home of shipwreck heroine Grace Darling.

And, if you want to all stay in seperate accommodation, Cottages in Northumberland offer a collection of cottages in Warenford, Bamburgh that can be all booked together, with an onsite swimming pool.

“We have seen a dramatic increase in requests for larger properties as people choose to holiday with friends or family members” said the agency’s director of operations, Angela Mazingham.

“If you’re organising a holiday for a bigger group, then hotels and flights can prove prohibitively expensive compared to the cost of hiring a large cottage or house.

“In addition, some of the larger houses offer an element of luxury that even a five-star hotel would be hard pressed to match.

“Almost all of our sizable properties also offer free guest Wi-Fi and family friendly facilities such as stair gates, travel cots, books and games for children.

“Our larger properties are also within easy travelling distance of some of the most spectacular coast and countryside in Britain, with attractions and interests for all ages.”
