Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel undergoes significant expansion with funding from Barclays
The historic West Yorkshire-based Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel has announced expansion plans with funding from Barclays.
Originally built in 1610, Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel is located in Badsworth, Pontefract and is owned and operated by Richard Metcalfe who purchased the business in 2004.
The Manor House already has 22 bedrooms and a further five state of the art rooms called ‘The Suites @ The Manor’ have been added with the conversion of a barn dating back to the 1800s.
Barclays provided funding for the original purchase and again for the conversion of the barns.
Richard Metcalfe, owner of Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, said: “All the five new bedrooms have individual character and design with open beams, state of the art technology and feature lighting.
“Bathrooms are equipped with TVs and Suite 19 boasts four king sized beds and its own dance floor – ideal for a bride to stay the night before her wedding with her bridesmaids. We’re already gaining 5 star reviews from professional hoteliers, trade magazines, editors and guests.”
Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel employs over 80 staff locally and turnover for this year is expected to exceed £3m.
Bryn Sutcliffe, Barclays relationship director, commented: “We’ve supported Richard and the team since they purchased the business in 2004 and we’re very proud to be associated with the next stage of their development and growth.
“The new rooms will increase capacity and be a major attraction for new wedding business so we look forward to seeing the business grow throughout 2016 and beyond.”
