Direct Food Ingredients develops new bespoke IT infrastructure
Leading food ingredients supplier Direct Food Ingredients is consolidating its business with considerable investment in the launch of a new intranet system to support the company’s continued growth.
Developed internally by its expert IT team, who worked closely with the Quality department, the system will be able support its comprehensive provision of a thorough audit trail and compliance in accordance with stringent industry bodies that they adhere to. The new intranet will control the specifications and will directly improve in-house efficiency and reduce long term costs.
Steve Loake, managing director at Direct Food Ingredients, explains: “We have worked hard to become accredited by the most stringent of industry bodies, and therefore to differentiate ourselves from others distributors in the market. This investment will further strengthen our QA procedures and support our meticulously monitored supply chain.
“This breakthrough software development will allow us to improve operational regulations by driving all of our quality documents. This latest investment will ensure that customers will continue to receive the very best of service.”
The new infrastructure, which recently went live, now speeds up the inputting of data and will be instrumental in supporting the company’s scalability as it expands into new markets and territories.
Software developer, Andy Watt, tasked with enhancing IT communications, comments: “We pride ourselves on our systems and internal checks and controls. This heavily invested software will not only improve quality control but allow enhanced operational efficiencies”.
Since opening its first overseas office in Los Angeles just one year ago, investing in such software demonstrates how the company plans to continue its success. The first phase of their new intranet system is just another example of the bright future ahead for Direct Food Ingredients.
Direct Food Ingredients’ head office is located on Waters Green in the centre of Macclesfield (Cheshire, England). The business is an established leader in the importation, storage and distribution of functional foods, nutritional and sports ingredients as well as vitamin and mineral premixes.
