Cheesegrater reaches capacity with Clydesdale Bank move
Clydesdale Bank has become the newest occupant at the Leadenhall Building, following the announcement that the Scottish bank is to become the sixth business this year to make the move to the City of London building.
The bank has agreed to move its London offices to the fifteenth floor of the building, which is commonly referred to as ‘the Cheesegrater’, taking the full 17,300 sq ft space available.
It brings occupancy at the 225m building, which is joint owned by British Land and Oxford Properties, to 98%, with just a 7,000 sq ft space on a single floor now available.
The building now boasts 4,800 workers with occupants including global insurance firms AON and Aegon, as well as hedge fund Quadrature Capital who moved into the building in January.
Tim Roberts, Head of Offices and Residential at British Land said: “We have seen strong demand for space at The Leadenhall Building, and have been very pleased to secure long-term commitments from blue-chip occupiers, such as Clydesdale Bank. With just one floor available, we anticipate that the building will be fully let ahead of schedule later this year.”
Chris Carter Keall, Vice President and Head of Asset Management at Oxford Properties added: “The Leadenhall Building has attracted occupiers from a wide variety of sectors, who are attracted to the excellent customer service, the variety of floor-plate sizes and its location. Clydesdale’s decision to move in is a fantastic endorsement of our leasing strategy, and we are delighted to welcome them to the building.”
