30 new hires and double office space marks strong year for Sunderland GP Alliance
Sunderland GP Alliance, has matched its recruitment of 30 new employees since starting up last year with the doubling of its office space to pave the way for further growth.
Sunderland is one of a small number of “vanguard” areas across the country unveiled in a £200m announcement by NHS England that will take the national lead on changing the way patients are cared for.
An alliance aimed at supporting GPs, the Sunderland-based business exists to help meet the challenges face by the national health system. By working collaboratively at scale, it facilitates the delivery of standard and complex, system based, proactive and sustainable primary care to the residents of the city.
Moving from 200sq ft to 480sq ft at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC), the firm attributed its expansion to a flurry of new contract wins.
Jon Twelves, Chief Executive, explained: “The company only began last year and I am delighted in how fast we have grown in such a short space of time.
“Our aim is to improve services for patients, and help the NHS become more sustainable, by exploring how we can do things differently in General Practice.
“It’s been a great first year, but we’re only at the beginning of our journey and there are lots more opportunities for our company to support GP’s to work more collaboratively and at scale. We’ve just started to scratch the surface.
“We remain at the BIC because of the excellent value for money and the flexible, risk free, easy in, easy out terms, not to mention the support services and the great location.”
David Howell, Director of Operations, added: “It is inspiring to witness the speed of growth that Sunderland GP Alliance are experiencing. From one to 30 staff in a year is very encouraging. I’m excited in seeing what the next 12 months deliver for Jon and his team.
“We have had over 20 years hands on experience in supporting companies by offering a focused approach with appropriate accommodation for their stage of growth and we are proud to have such innovative companies like Sunderland GP Alliance as part of our business community.”
