Thirsk furniture maker signs new deal with Bosnian wood firm
Treske, the Thirsk-based designer, manufacturer and supplier of bespoke furniture, has signed an exclusive deal with Artisan, a Bosnian-based wood company, to distribute Artisan’s furniture in the north of England.
Treske are only one of two companies who are distributing Artisan’s products in the UK.
Artisan, which has 150 dealers across the world, will be exhibiting at Clerkenwell Design Week in London from May 26-May 28.
Justin Bartlett, owner and managing director of Treske, commented: “This is a very significant venture for both us and Artisan. The synergy is perfect. Artisan are hugely talented designers and manufacturers, whose furniture looks and feels amazing. It is the ideal addition to our own range of furniture.
“We are proud that they have chosen us as their sole distributors in the north of England and we are determined to repay their faith in us. We are promoting the furniture as the Treske Artisan Range and it is already proving very popular, thanks to its bold and attractive designs and imaginative use of quality wood.
“The success of Artisan, both in Bosnia and the rest of the world, is truly heart-warming. Following the Balkans war which caused such misery and chaos, Bosnia has struggled to get back on its feet. But Artisan has proved the home-grown industries can prosper.
“We first saw their furniture at a trade fair in Cologne and we were bowled over. They were following the same ideals are us, notably bold and attractive designs made from quality wood, and it made perfect sense to join forces with them. Our association gives an international dimension to Treske’s work, which is extremely exciting both for us and our clients.”
Ms Silva Vuksanovic of Artisan said: “Our partnership with Treske is perfect. They share our values, our love of quality furniture, of design and of wood. Ever since we met them at that Cologne trade fair, we knew we could work together. We are delighted that Treske are our sole representatives in the north of England. They are doing an excellent job in promoting our furniture.
“We have just heard that we have won two prizes for furniture design in the prestigious Red Dot Awards 2016, which we are thrilled about. The prizes went to our Neva light chair and our Neva lounge chair, both excellent examples of how we combine simplicity with comfort and distinctive design.”
Silva added: “This will give us another wonderful opportunity to promote our award-winning furniture and to tell our story.
“In 2009 we founded the Arteco Wood Technology Centre in Tesanj with the aim of making the company the driving force of a new movement in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s wood industry.
“As a unique technological centre for the wood-processing industry, Arteco aims to reverse this trend, providing infrastructure and expertise in design, prototype production, work on state-of-the-art CAD machinery, woodwork machinery, finishing, preparation, raw material drying and help in the export of final wood-processing products.
“Our philosophy is simple. We love wood because we have known it our entire life. From the forest we played in as children, to the calling to which we have dedicated our adulthood. Because we love wood, we want to share this love with you by producing furniture for people who share our passion for wood and top quality furniture.”
