Hatch Ventures bringing startups and social ventures day to Brixton

Community business incubator Hatch Ventures have announced a new event in Brixton which aims to provide advice and guidance for some of the capital’s mission-driven startups.

Startup Brixton, taking place on 28th May at Pop Brixton in South London, will include a range of talks and workshops aimed at entrepreneurs and business people who are looking to start a business with a social or ethical motivation.

Partnering with Business Launch Pad, Impact Hub Brixton and Enterprise For London, the event will also invite a range of speakers, including Hatch participants, from socially-conscious business to tell their stories and provide advice to budding entrepreneurs.

Speakers already lined up include:

• Hatch alumni Lee Denny of adventure camp and festival Wildfire
• Solomon & Hashi of Brixton Soup Kitchen
• Cemal Ezel of homeless barista training startup Change Please
• Leo Chan of medical elearning firm Equally Possible

Hatch, who are the UK’s first dedicated community business incubator, have also announced that attendees will have the opportunity to pitch for startup funding on the day to a panel of judges.

Dirk Bischof, Chief Executive Officer, Hatch Ventures said: “Over the last two years we’ve supported over 200 entrepreneurs and built an amazing support community of mentors, experts and professionals from different industries.

“Together, we’re making sure young businesses have everything they need to grow. With this event we want to bring together people who are interested in starting up, those that already have and need support and more established businesses in the community.”
