Yorkshire Airport Announces Its Chosen Charity

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has named a Yorkshire based children’s charity as its beneficiary for 2016.

The chosen charity, The Children’s Hospital Charity, exists to support and enhance Sheffield Children’s Hospital, one of only four dedicated children’s trusts in the UK.

Staff at Doncaster Sheffield Airport will hold a number of fundraising events throughout the year and passengers will be encouraged to donate via the annual coin collection which sees passengers donate any loose sterling, foreign coins or notes in departures and arrivals.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said, “We are delighted to announce our chosen charity for 2016.

“The Children’s Hospital Charity works to provide specialist equipment and to create a warm welcoming environment for children and families visiting the hospital. As a specialist hospital, Sheffield Children’s sees patients from across the UK and we are extremely lucky to have such a fantastic facility within the Sheffield City Region.

“We know that our staff and passengers are very generous and will support this fantastic charity through events and by donating unwanted coins in arrivals and departures.”

As well as raising money for research, equipment and artfelt- a project which improves the hospital environment, the charity launched a massive fundraising drive in 2012 to raise £10million to match world class facilities with the existing world class care, creating the best possible environment for children to get better more quickly.

Tchad Western, corporate fundraiser, The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are delighted Doncaster Sheffield Airport have chosen us as their charity of the year.

“It is great to be developing a relationship with the airport and we look forward to working with them to raise as much money as possible for the charity. It’s though continued support, like this, that we continue to be at the forefront of paediatric care.”
