Record-breaking London Technology Week on the cards as international tech firms descend on the capital
Luminaries in the global tech scene from countries as far afield as the US, China and Australia are due to descend on the capital in what is being predicted as a record-breaking London Technology Week 2016.
With over 200 events taking place across London from 20th to 26th June, the week-long festival promises to be a celebration of the city’s world-leading reputation as a tech hub, with the number of international representatives signed up already exceeding 2015’s figure.
The event, which is becoming a major fixture in the UK’s tech calendar after the first festival in 2014, will include keynote speeches, workshops and talks that explore some of the most pressing issues in today’s tech sector.
Organised by B2B events specialist UBM EMEA, with support from the likes of Tech City UK, UKTI and techUK, this year’s festival will also boast an International Programme catering to foreign tech delegates who are interested in setting up shop in London, as well as homegrown entrepreneurs who have their sights set on international expansion.
Russ Shaw, Founder of Tech London Advocates and who is also a London Technology Week Ambassador, believes that the capital’s ‘world class tech talent’ and ‘easy access to international markets’ makes London a very attractive proposition to international businesses.
He added: “Our success on the world stage is already attracting some of the best entrepreneurs, investors and developers from all over the world.
“This is reflected in the diversity and number of international companies set to attend London Technology Week 2016.
“This year’s London Technology Week promises to be bigger and better than ever, cementing London’s status as a world class destination for international tech businesses.”
Kevin Pearce, London Technology Week Event Director, echoed Russ’ praise and believes the festival is a vital cog in the international tech scene, connecting tech companies from around the world.
He said: “It is testament to London’s thriving tech community, the opportunities available here in the capital and the diversity of events taking place across London Technology Week that a record number of international delegates will be arriving for the week-long programme of learning, knowledge sharing, business and networking.
“The week’s mission of connecting the entire tech ecosystem continues to reach across borders and attract exciting new participants from every corner of the world.”
