Coombe Abbey continues winning streak of award recognition
A Warwickshire country house hotel has continued its winning streak of national, regional and trade recognition after having been shortlisted for two major awards.
Finalists have been announced for the annual CHS Awards and national meetings and events industry specialist CHS Group has shortlisted Coombe Abbey, based in Brinklow, for two titles.
The awards, which will take place at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on Wednesday, May 25, recognise the nation’s best hotels and venues and allows them to showcase their facilities to an audience of hosted buyers and prospective clients.
Nineteen categories have been chosen which honour the industry’s finest leisure facilities, catering companies and guest experiences – and period hotel Coombe Abbey, which dates back to the 12th century, is up for Best Independent Venue.
And the privately-owned hotel’s Lindley Suite – which has previously hosted music legends Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie, and features a grand four-poster bed with views overlooking the moat - could also win recognition after having been shortlisted for the Best Classical Bedroom award.
It isn’t the first the time the venue has won recognition at the CHS Awards – Coombe Abbey was also shortlisted and then won Best Classical Bedroom for the Lady Craven Suite at last year’s awards too.
Ron Terry, general manager of Coombe Abbey, said: “As Coombe Abbey celebrates its 21st anniversary since first launching, the hotel is reflective on how much it has achieved in this time - and the award nomination at the CHS Awards is a shining example not just of the excellent experience we offer but also that it is recognised by both the industry and our customers.
“In the last year alone the hotel has won or been shortlisted for no less than eight awards on a regional and national scale as well as within the industry – an achievement which is made all the more impressive when you realise we are a privately-owned independent business.
“We are therefore delighted that the team’s dedication to providing a memorable experience is receiving more recognition by a national industry expert.”
The news follows the hotel announcing a record year which saw 40 jobs created for Coventry and Warwickshire, wedding bookings increase by nine per cent, corporate events by 13 per cent and afternoon teas rose by more than a third in 2015 helping the hotel welcome more than 65,000 guests – the most popular year in its history.
