This week’s Yorkshire appointments
The Leeds office of CBRE has announced seven new promotions following another record financial year.
Within the building consultancy team, Richard Bamford has been awarded the position of executive director and James Forth has been promoted to director.
Nick Marsden has been promoted to director within the rating team and Jacques Esterhuizen has been promoted to associate director in industrial agency.
In property and asset management, Lee Robertshaw and Nina Bradley have been promoted to senior surveyors and Lauren Spencer has also been promoted to senior surveyor within the valuation team.
Richard Sunderland, Leeds managing director and executive director, said: “The Leeds office continues to go from strength to strength with our busy teams working on a broad range of high-profile projects across the region and securing the record deals of the last year.
“This success is reflected in our turnover which increased by 5% resulting in yet another record year for the office. Bernie Waldron, Nexus Vehicle Rental
Nexus Vehicle Rental (Nexus), the Leeds-based corporate vehicle rental provider, has appointed Bernie Waldron, a former senior international executive with IBM, as chairman.
Waldron arrives with 30 years of global technology experience, spanning startups, venture capital, private equity and public companies. He oversaw the acquisition of Maersk Data Group, which formed the basis for a new IBM global transportation business, and where, as executive chairman, he was responsible for 30 companies and 3,500 employees across 12 countries.
Waldron has also held non-executive positions with a number of companies including cloud-based service providers Node4 and APSU, advanced process modelling company PSE, Financial Services information provider Kneip and social media aggregator Amondo.

Stephen Bettis, Sheffield United
Sheffield United has appointed Stephen Bettis as its new chief executive.
Mr Bettis has been working in an advisory capacity with the Sky Bet League One club following the departure of managing director Mal Brannigan at the end of last year.
Co-owner Kevin McCabe, said: “We are delighted to make Stephen’s role permanent, where he will lead our off-the-field activities and liaise closely with new team manager Chris Wilder.”
Stephen’s career commenced in an accountancy practice where he qualified as an accountant and obtained several years’ experience.
He then moved into industry and subsequently became a finance director and shareholder of a property investment and development company.
Mr Bettis will also become a director of the Club.
Sue Staton and Andrew Dodsworth, Wintersgill Associates
An Ilkley-based accountancy firm has announced the appointment of two new managers.
Wintersgill Associates has brought in a marketing manager and head of business development to the team, to help further increase its client base and boost turnover.
Sue Staton, marketing manager, spent 15 years working in the marketing departments of global electronics company Sony in the UK and Germany before moving to Yorkshire and joining Wintersgill Associates.
Andrew Dodsworth, new head of business development, has a background as a financial markets trader with experience at global financial institutions like Credit Lyonnais and Daiwa International. He also ran a brokerage company which specialised in interbank dealing in equity derivatives.

Edward Pawley, Mark Jenkinson & Son
A general practice surveyor has been appointed by the Sheffield-based independent property firm he originally joined after first qualifying.
Edward Pawley has re-joined the team at Mark Jenkinson & Son, the company he worked for from 2006 after qualifying as a surveyor with the District Valuer’s Office.
Since leaving in 2011, he has worked for a high profile chartered surveyors firm within the healthcare market and also a large corporate organisation in BNP Paribas Real Estate.
Edward has returned to Mark Jenkinson & Son as a general practice surveyor with a specific focus on the healthcare market.
Graeme Beck, senior partner at Mark Jenkinson & Son, said: “We are delighted to welcome Edward back. He has a wealth of experience which, combined with his in-depth knowledge of the healthcare market property sectors, will help us to further develops and enhance our valuation team.”
Mark Jenkinson & Son was established in 1877 and is the largest independent firm of Chartered Surveyors in South Yorkshire, with offices in Sheffield and Chesterfield.
Gavin Hesketh, Wake Smith Solicitors
Gavin Hesketh has joined Wake Smith Solicitors’ company commercial team.
The team is headed up by John Baddeley and Duncan Shepherd from Wake Smith’s No 1 Velocity headquarters in Sheffield city centre.
Gavin will focus on corporate transactional work advising buyers and sellers and offer instruction on company and partnership law.
He joins Wake Smith after spending seven months at Ironmonger Curtis LLP following his training contract at Hill Dickinson, both in Sheffield. Before his training, Gavin studied economics at the University of York after which he completed a law conversion course at the University of Sheffield.

Ellie Gittings, Alex Whitaker and Andra Miclaus, Acceleris
PR and Communications agency Acceleris has expanded both its Harrogate and London teams with the appointment of two new account executives after a number of new business wins.
Ellie Gittings joins the team as senior account executive as part of a drive to further strengthen Acceleris’ digital marketing expertise. She has four years of agency experience in the public relations arena and boasts a wealth of digital marketing knowledge, delivering high return on investment content marketing strategies for a diverse client range.
Andra Miclaus is a communications and public relations graduate who has developed her own lifestyle blog. She joined the agency following an internship with its Acceleris Academy which builds the skills of students and graduates with the aim of helping them into careers in PR.
In addition to the new appointments, Alex Whitaker has been promoted to senior account executive. He joined Acceleris in 2014 following a successful work placement within the Acceleris Academy.

Tony Ampomah, Bethany Webb and Lucy Murfet, Blue Logic Digital
Leeds-based digital marketing agency Blue Logic Digital has hired three new members of staff.
Tony Ampomah joins the company as PHP developer having previously worked with the agencies Bluestone and Hypergram and will be working on rolling out new websites across a number of key clients.
Lucy Murfet joins as digital project manager having spent three and a half years at MediaSkunkWorks and will help to coordinate and streamline project delivery.
Bethany Webb joins as a digital marketing executive with a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising and a specialism in content writing.

Mark Hatfield, Eclipse Energy
Halifax-based Eclipse Energy, installer of commercial and domestic renewable energy technologies, has announced the appointment of Mark Hatfield as sales director.
Mr Hatfield will have the role of nurturing commercial partnerships, in particular the work Eclipse performs with national utility companies to provide cost effective renewable energy solutions for those most in need.
Additionally, Mr Hatfield will also be introducing new technologies to individual homeowners such as a domestic solar battery to power homes without using the national grid.
Mark Bannister, managing director of Eclipse Energy, stated: “We’re incredibly excited to have Mark Hatfield on board, he brings a wealth of experience to the role and will assist in our continuing growth.
