Auto Express Puts Disklok in the Fast Lane
Chorley-based car security brand, Disklok, is celebrating receiving ‘Best Buy’ recognition for more than a decade from leading motoring magazine, Auto Express.
The 2016 test of car security products earned the innovative steering wheel lock ‘Recommended Buy’ approval, with the magazine rating the product as ‘the ultimate in physical security’.
Auto Express ran the review in response to rising car crime, which has soared following the introduction of keyless ignition. According to latest figures*, almost half of all car thefts are carried out without original keys.
Disklok was invented by local entrepreneur, Mark Higginson and is recognised as the world’s strongest and most effective steering wheel security lock. The reinforced steel device covers the whole steering wheel and has received accolades from other leading motoring magazines including Max Power and Revs.
Mark built on the success of his invention by founding sister company, Festive Lights, in 1999 and DRiBOX in 2012. They each share a head office in Charnock Richard and distribution warehouse in Wigan.
Mark comments: “Disklok laid the foundations for growth and to this day remains the number one car theft deterrent.
“Modern car owners are reverting back to traditional ways of protecting their vehicles to combat the fact that thieves can easily crack keyless ignition codes. We’re immensely proud of the success of all our companies and have ambitious plans in place to support the future growth of our brands globally.”
