Land Securities secures Tesla for major South East shopping destination

London-based property group Land Securities has announced that international electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has opened at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

The store, the vehicle brand’s second South East store outside of London, is one of Tesla’s ‘larger format design’ outlets giving consumers the chance to test drive its new Tesla Model S premium all-electric car, as well as showcasing some of the car’s innovations and designs.

As part of the launch, the American auto giant has also added Tesla Supercharger bays in the lower yellow car park at the shopping centre, adding to the network of over 130 charging bays in 30 different locations.

It comes as Tesla’s attempts to bring all-electric cars to the mainstream have picked up speed in the UK, with openings in Leeds and Oxford Street bringing the total number of UK showrooms to 14.

Russell Loveland, Portfolio Director at Land Securities, commented: ““We are very excited to welcome Tesla. The innovation and experience the brand evokes for guests reflects that of our own at Bluewater and highlights the demand by leading brands and technologies.

“The permanent Tesla charger bays, which combined with our own electric charge points only add to the unique offer here at Bluewater.”

Tesla flagship vehicle, the Model S, was the world’s first premium, all-electric saloon car and currently retails for between £50,000 and £90,000.
