Bar celebrating the hedonism of literary luminaries opening in Bloomsbury

A new bar inspired by the hedonistic exploits of literary figures such as Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster is coming to Bloomsbury this summer.

The Bloomsbury Club Bar, housed within the upscale hotel The Bloomsbury near Tottenham Court Road, will launch this June with decor and cocktails inspired by the Bloomsbury Set of English literary figures in the 1920s and 30s who, along with their works, were also famous for their hedonism.

Spread over a main bar and outer terrace area, the bar’s walls will be adorned with artwork and books inspired by the works of the group, while a range of drinks will celebrate ‘the golden age of cocktails’, with house creations such as the Virginia Woolf and the Vanessa Bell.

The new bar will be led by bar manager Brian Calleja, who has previous experience in other high-end establishments in the capital, including French restaurant Les Deux Salons, the 5-star Threadneedle Hotel and award-winning restaurant L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon.

Calleja hopes that the Bloomsbury Club Bar’s ‘moody, seductive and atmospheric space’ will be a ‘great addition to London’s drinking scene’, allowing revellers to immerse themselves in a different era.

The new bar will join Dalloway Terrace as another literary-inspired leisure destination at the Doyle Collection’s The Bloomsbury.
