Architecture firm appointed to design £20m New College Doncaster

Ryder Architecture has been appointed to be part of the team developing New College Doncaster, the town’s only standalone sixth form college for 16-19 year olds.

The firm will be creating the design for New College Doncaster, which will be run by The New Collaborative Learning Trust.

The sixth form college will be built in Auckley on the playing fields adjacent to Hayfield Lane and will include a sports hall and a series of sports pitches, with a construction value of around £20m.

Planned works include a 9450m2 sixth form college with individual curriculum learning zones based around a multi-functional hub including informal learning, social spaces and extensive sports facilities.

Leon Riley, principal designate of New College Doncaster, said: “In educational terms September 2017, when we open to students, is just around the corner. That is why we are delighted to be announcing the architects who will be designing our dynamic centre for post-16 learning, supporting achievement, aspiration and progression.

“The look and feel of the New College Doncaster will be extremely important as our state of the art facilities will be the perfect base from which we deliver outstanding educational opportunities for young people from across the borough.”

The New Collaborative Learning Trust presently operates New College Pontefract, judged Outstanding in all areas by OFSTED.
