Chester’s Welcome Ambassadors hit 15,000 visitor milestone
New figures released by CH1ChesterBID have shown how Chester’s Welcome Ambassadors have engaged with more than 15,000 visitors in just over six months since arriving in the city centre.
Dressed in three-piece suits, overcoats and bowler hats, the stylish and recognisable team – funded by CH1ChesterBID – has been giving Chester visitors a warm welcome, pointing out local attractions and guiding people around the city centre since November 2015.
“This is a significant milestone for our Welcome Ambassadors and we’re delighted with how successful this scheme has been in the city centre,” said Carl Critchlow, BID Manager at CH1ChesterBID.
“Creating a great first impression is vital if we want city visitors to return again and again and the Welcome Ambassadors play a key part in helping us achieve that. Come rain or shine, the team are out on the high street throughout the week, meeting and greeting people, offering local knowledge; sharing advice about tourist attractions, and promoting the wide range of shops and restaurants in the city centre.”
Chester’s Welcome Ambassadors also provide additional support to city centre manager Nick White, reporting environmental issues such as broken street lamps or instances of anti-social behaviour, as well as being an additional point of contact for more than 500 CH1ChesterBID member businesses.
“They give us extra eyes and ears on the ground and play an important role helping us keep the city centre safe and attractive,” added Nick White, CH1ChesterBID’s City Centre Manager. “On top of that, they’re engaging with city centre businesses on a daily basis, which gives our BID members another channel through which they can raise concerns or share their thoughts and ideas with us for enhancing the city centre experience even further.”
