Funding boost for good causes in Penrith and Lancaster
Two worthy organisations helping to improve the lives of people in their communities have received community funding from a leading housebuilder.
Carleton Park Recreation Group and 5th Lancaster Guides have each been selected to receive donations as part of the Persimmon Homes Lancashire Community Champions scheme. Diane Finch, sales director for Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “Our national match-funding programme seeks to support local groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment across the region. “We are delighted to be supporting two worthy causes, which both display all the qualities that make a perfect community champion.” Carleton Park Recreation Group is a local project to develop the Penrith park’s recreation area, improving facilities and adding community cohesion to Carleton Heights. Persimmon Homes’ donation will help the group to improve the playing facilities in the village by providing more equipment to the fenced play area. The 5th Lancaster Guides group delivers a range of fun activities and challenges for around 40 members to take part in. The guide unit has already held successful fundraising activities including supermarket bag packing, and the match-funding donation from Persimmon Homes will help to purchase equipment for the group’s summer camping trip. Community groups, charities and good causes across the county have benefitted thanks to the donations from Persimmon Homes. Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity The scheme invites local groups and charities to bid for cash from a £750,000 national fund, with two donations of up to £1,000 being made locally each month. Persimmon Homes Lancashire operates new homes developments throughout Lancashire and Cumbria. To find out more visit www.persimmonhomes.com
