Make a Will and support Rossendale Hospice

Rossendale-based Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors is throwing its weight behind a charity drive to bolster the coffers of a local hospice.

WHN Solicitors has vowed to waive its Will-writing fees in exchange for a donation to Rossendale Hospice, as part of the charity’s annual Make a Will Fortnight.

Those who do not have a valid Will in place, or need to make changes to an existing Will, can take advantage of the initiative by making an appointment at WHN’s Bacup, Rawtenstall or Haslingden offices between June 6-17.

The suggested donation is equivalent to the cost of preparing a standard Will, which is £180 for individuals or £288 for couples.

Stephen Parr, who is a partner and heads up the private client department at WHN Solicitors, said: “As a firm committed to the local community, WHN is always looking at ways it can support charities close in the hearts of local people. As patrons of the charity, WHN has supported Rossendale Hospice for a number of years and has pledged to continue this going forward.

“This initiative is a great opportunity for people to make a Will to ensure their estate is distributed as desired and loved ones are provided for, while making a charitable donation to a really worthy cause.”

Alison Whittaker-Stewart, marketing and fundraising manager at Rossendale Hospice, added “We hope Make a Will Fortnight will inspire people to take action. By making an appointment you will benefit in knowing your family and loved ones are protected should the worst happen and you’ll also be helping us make a positive difference to the lives of local people living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions.

“Rossendale Hospice could not survive without the continued support and generosity of local individuals and companies who allow us to meet ever increasing running costs of £800,000 every year.”

Rossendale Hospice aims to improve quality of life for those with life-limiting illnesses and provides a range of services including; day therapy, hospice at home a range of complementary and psycho therapies, bereavement counselling and a befriending service.

Make a Will Fortnight will run from June 6-17. To book an appointment contact Stephen Parr at WHN’s Haslingden office on 01706 213356, Catherine Hamilton in Rawtenstall on 01706 225621, or Wendy Scott at the firm’s Bacup office on 01706 874487.
