77 village homes development planned for Burton Leonard
Housebuilder Loxley Homes, part of Leeds-based Prospect Property Group, has submitted plans to build up to 77 new homes in the village of Burton Leonard, between Harrogate and Ripon.
If plans are approved, the development will include 31 affordable and 46 open-market homes with between one and five bedrooms, designed by Harrogate and Leeds firm Aspect Architecture.
Improvements will also be made to the roads surrounding the site, the existing trees will be retained with new hedges and trees planted as part of the scheme.
Architect James Elliott, who designed the scheme, said: “We have put a huge amount of effort into getting the detail of the scheme right, ensuring that the appearance and character of the houses will enhance the village and help to retain its unique character.
“As is increasingly the case with rural villages, there is a chronic shortage of housing, particularly affordable homes, in Burton Leonard and these new houses will help to address that problem in a way that will blend in with the rest of the village.”
A public consultation was carried out in the village in November, with flyers giving detailed information about the proposed plans and a questionnaire for feedback sent to every household.
The planners’ final decision on the scheme is expected later this summer.
