House sales boost for charity

Northamptonshire child cancer charity Niamh’s Next Step has received a £750 boost, thanks to local house buyers.

Persimmon Homes Midlands pledged a donation of £25 for every house sale completed at its Harlestone Manor development from the site’s launch in September until Christmas.

With 30 properties sold in the period, the company has now handed over £750 to the charity, founded in memory of five-year-old Niamh Curry, who was one of the 100 children to be diagnosed with neuroblastoma in the UK each year.

Niamh’s Next Step supports families affected by neuroblastoma and raises money to fund vital research and education programmes into this aggressive disease.

Niamh’s father Chris Curry, the charity’s founder and chairman, said: “On behalf of Niamh’s Next Step I would like to say thank you to Persimmon Homes for their support over the last 12 months and for the money raised by their staff and homebuyers.

“Every penny raised will go directly towards fighting childhood cancer and helping children fighting Neuroblastoma.”

Claire Davidson, head of sales at Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “Niamh’s Next Step was the focus of our corporate and employee fundraising throughout 2015.

“Our team was deeply moved by Niamh’s story, and we were honoured to meet Chris Curry and learn more about the charity’s valuable work.

“Harlestone Manor is a very popular location for families, so it seems fitting that the sale of each home is assisting those whose loved ones are dealing with this awful condition, and to support the research which may bring a vital breakthrough and prevent future cases.”
