Bolton’s BD Structures fuels expansion with £490k funding

Steelwork company BD Structures Limited has secured a six-figure funding package as it aims to improve efficiency and productivity.

The Bolton-based firm will use the £490k boost from HSBC to purchase a new 8,500 sq ft office and industrial site, which it will expand into later this year.

Further, the funding will allow BD Structures to import steel processing machinery from the Netherlands.

BD Structures’ managing director, Chris Heys, said: “We need up-to-date machinery to ensure we give our customers a quality product on time.

“We are also keen to minimise our energy usage. It’s often difficult to do this without drawing on working capital.”

He continued: “Thanks to the bank’s support, we were able to purchase the new equipment whilst keeping a healthy working capital in place to support the on-going business.

“HSBC recommended an innovative solution to help us import a much-needed piece of equipment, making it possible for us to become more efficient and add value to our customers. What’s more, our new home will soon enable us to work from a bigger, better facility.”

HSBC has also supported BD Structures to drive its commercial strategy forward with a push to recruit new production and technical staff.

Founded in 1997, today BD Structures is a £5m-turnover firm providing steelwork for clients across the healthcare, education, residential, leisure, retail and commercial sectors.
