Blacks Solicitors Supports Local Heart Charity
A team from a Leeds-based law firm rode 66 miles on one bike to raise money for Heart Research UK.
The Charity and Corporate Social Responsibility Team at Blacks Solicitors entered a team of staff members to cycle 66 miles from Leeds Arena to York and back on Sunday, 5 June. The team was riding on a special seven seater ‘conference bike’ as part of the Yorkshire Mafia’s Heart of Sportive event.
James Teagle, a solicitor and Partner from Blacks, took part in the ride and said: “It was fantastic, but incredibly hard. It was a heck of an achievement, particularly given all of the hills, and I can’t even begin to express just how proud I am of everybody from Blacks that took part.
“The icing on the cake was the support and looks of surprise we got from spectators, other riders in the event and from passers-by. It was a very memorable day indeed.”
Heart Research UK is the law firm’s main charity partner for 2016, with the money raised going towards a Children’s Heart Camp at Lineham Farm in Leeds. The camp has been organised for children with heart conditions to go and stay for the weekend, along with their families, and enjoy activities suitable for them, in a safe environment.
Anna Rhodes, a Family Law solicitor and member of the Charity and CSR Team from Blacks, was riding with the team through the Sunday heatwave. She said: “What a fantastic experience! I want to thank everyone who has donated already. It is such a worthy cause, with the charity doing great work throughout the UK. We are proud to be supporting them and helping raise awareness.”
The team has so far raised £2,000 but it is still not too late to donate via the Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/Blacks-Solicitors-LLP2
