Cycling event is a Capitol idea
A pioneering cycling event is to be held at Capitol Park West in Tingley, south Leeds, on Thursday June 23.
The event, which has been organised by Leeds-based traffic consultancy Bryan G Hall and is supported by the Leeds go:cycling team, will take place The Village Hotel car park from 11.30am to 2.30pm and everyone is welcome. Admission is free.
Mike Heydecke, managing director of Sterling Capitol, the developers of Capitol Park, commented: “We are pleased to host an event which underlines the importance of cycling as a sustainable means of getting to and from work, as well as being part of a healthy lifestyle.
“The success of Capitol Park means that we have more than 1,600 people working here. Although we have car-parking space on site, we want to encourage more people to come to work on their cycles, because it eases the traffic flow, helps the environment and is good for their health.”
Rachael Bateman of Bryan G Hall, said: “It is extremely important to raise the profile of cycling as an efficient, cheap, healthy and environmentally-friendly method of getting to and from work. Events like this do exactly that.
“Our Dr Bike surgery will feature a local cycle mechanic, who will give your bike a good a thorough health check. Cycle experts from Leeds go:cycling will be on hand to talk about cycling locally and Capitol Park’s Travel Plan Coordinator will be available to discuss any travel-related queries you might have. “Please note the cycle health checks will be undertaken on a first come first served basis. Don’t miss this great opportunity for a FREE cycle health check; even if you don’t own a bike feel free to come and speak to us,” added Rachel.
