18th century Richmond hotel reopens following £1m refurbishment

The Kings Head in Richmond reopens on Friday June 24th, following a £1m refurbishment.

First opening its doors in 1717, the Kings Head, which was acquired earlier this year by the Coaching Inn Group, closed for eight weeks to undergo the first phase of refurbishment, which has included a sympathetic renovation of its restaurant, bar and accommodation.

The hotel reopens Friday (24th June) with the introduction of its new Eatery & Coffee House concept, including a new all-day menu.

Fred Oxlade, Hotel manager, said: “The aim of the work was to give this historic coaching inn a new lease of life, whilst maintaining its Georgian architecture.

“We’re delighted with the outcome and can’t wait to show off our fresh new look and introduce our new Eatery and Coffee House to the local community.

“The Kings Head benefits from being in a prime location on the town’s square and we hope we continue to be known as the go-to-place in Richmond for family-friendly, relaxed all day dining.”

As part of the Coaching Inn Group’s £20m expansion programme, the Kings Head has benefitted from significant structural repairs and a sympathetic refurbishment, as well as the recruitment of 30 additional new staff members.

The Coaching Inn Group operates 11 hotels in Yorkshire, Leicester, Lincolnshire, Northampton, Gloucestershire and Wales and aims to double the size its estate by 2017.
