Alloy Wire set to fly high at Farnborough

One of the world’s leading manufacturers of precision, drawn, flat and shaped wire is looking to build on its growing presence in the aerospace sector by taking part in the Midlands Aerospace Alliance’s Pavilion at the Farnborough International Airshow (11-17th July).

Alloy Wire International (AWI), which is celebrating 70 years in business in 2016, will be showcasing its extensive range of more than 50 nickel ‘High Performance’ alloys that are commonly used in aircraft fire detection, engine retaining rings, fasteners, high-temperature seals and engine compression springs.

Approved by BAE Systems, Raytheon Jets and Westland Corp, the company produces 0.025mm to 21mm custom-made wire in Exotic alloys, including Nimonic 90, Inconel 600, Nimonic 75, Waspaloy, Titanium Grade 5 and Monel 400.

Furthermore, there are no minimum order quantities and lead times are just three weeks from the client making the first enquiry.

The company, which is owned completely by its employees, recently put the finishing touches on a £700,000 investment drive that has seen it install three Zwick tensile and hardness testing machines, PMI material x-ray guns, fully automated multi spindle spooling machine, a 5 metre strand annealing furnace and a bespoke wire finishing line
