Liverpool FC submit plans for new ‘fan tribute’ walkway

Liverpool FC are looking to create a new walkway featuring supporter tributes as part of the Main Stand expansion at Anfield.

In a news report on their website, the Reds confirmed the submission of a planning application outlining details of the scheme, which would give fans the option of buying a personalised granite stone to form part of the Main Stand’s public realm element.

If approved, the walkway will be built in an area designed for supporters to gather before a game and would reconnect Anfield with the nearby 110-acre Stanley Park.

In addition to the fan tributes, the plans also call for the installation of new granite benches featuring artwork that celebrates milestones in the club’s 124-year history.

To accommodate the multi-million pound expansion of Anfield’s Main Stand and the additional capacity the scheme will create, LFC last month rounded off their biggest ever recruitment drive.

Earlier this week, the club’s owners at Fenway Sports Group dispelled rumours of a takeover from a Chinese government-backed investment group.
