Create a family football pitch for the Euros

With a summer of sport to look forward to, starting with the European Championships, Grass Direct, the UK’s largest supplier of artificial grass, is seeing a surge in sales of its hardwearing All Round Sport product.

Ideal for installation in gardens, Grass Direct’s All Round Sport offers an authentic look and feel for summer afternoons in the garden with family, especially those with budding sportsmen and women.

While this type of artificial grass usually retails at £45, Grass Direct’s All Round Sport is £19.99 per m2, meaning creating a mini back garden or yard football pitch is very affordable.

More and more people are turning to artificial grass as a substitute to real turf because of its durability, quality and low maintenance and Dan Foskett, managing director of Grass Direct, which is part of CreateCity Group, which includes Franks the Flooring Store, believes this trend is only going to continue.

He said: “The artificial grass market has continued to grow because of its mass appeal and low maintenance, which frees up time for homeowners to take advantage of the warm weather in the garden with family and friends.

“With the sporting calendar continuing into the summer, with Euro 2016 and the Olympics, this will no doubt see participation levels in sport increase and give parents ample time to join in their children’s hobbies during the school holidays.

“We’re now seeing a surge in orders from families who want to create a little pitch for their children. When football fever hits as the Euros start, even if the British summer brings rain, choosing artificial means there won’t be any muddy football boots. To make it really authentic, all you need to add are some line markings and goals.”

Dan added: “Artificial grass can be used for many purposes; in the garden, rooftop terraces and even at restaurants, for example, as well as for sport. Keen golfers can use it as a putting green surface or for practising their drives or playing football or other fast moving sporting activities, in larger gardens.”

Artificial grass offers an even terrain, regardless of weather or season, which promotes safety when exercising, and is also free from lead and cadmium. Unlike traditional grass, there is no unnecessary downtime to cut or maintain the grass, meaning it can be used year round.
