MMC celebrates 20 years of global innovation
A County Durham-based digital communications studio is celebrating its landmark 20th anniversary in business.
Over the last two decades, MMC has grown from a CD-ROM provider, to a developer of bespoke global communication platforms, all of this achieved from its offices in rural Castle Eden.
The innovative company, whose systems are all built using its proprietary codebase and framework, is also a firm believer of talent in the North East, with the majority of its staff having either been born in the area or educated at one of the local universities.
As well as this local heritage, MMC has found staying close to market trends is integral to remaining relevant in this fast paced market.
Speaking of the milestone anniversary and expansion, company Director and North East born, Martin Colborn, said: “This is such an exciting and proud time for us, we’re delighted to have reached 20 years in business, which is no easy feat.
“Our vision has always been about creative solutions for complicated communication problems, ever since the start, when there was just two of us creating interactive CD-ROMs, which in the mid-1990s was actually considered quite innovative.”
Ian McClellan, general manager added: “We work on all kinds of solutions, big and small and what we find is that technology advances, but a lot of the communication challenges businesses faced 20 years ago, are still relevant here in 2016.
“For that reason we always put usability first and foremost, and then push the boundaries of the solution, and the boundaries of what technology can do.”
MMC works with local, national and international businesses and has grown its competencies into a full service agency, providing strategic consultation on projects to ensure they fit seamlessly into its clients’ organisations.
This growth of services and an expert team of staff, is one of the reasons for MMC’s success over the last 20 years.
“We have two very simple aims here at MMC, we want our clients to love what we do for them and we want our team to feel immensely proud of what they do,” said Director of client services, Emma McClellan.
“Passing the 20-year mark proves we’ve got the focus here right and we are excited for the challenges ahead in the next two decades.”
