New appointment at PK establishes residential schools offering
As part of its ambitious expansion plans, supply teacher agency PK education has appointed Lewis Barry (22) from Alfreton as a Resourcer – a new role for the company. Within the role Lewis will establish PK education’s new service providing temporary staff for residential schools.
Lewis joins PK education’s Sheffield office from PeoplePlus, a leading employment support and training services company. Within the role he will be responsible for recruiting support workers to temporarily replace permanent staff members in residential schools for children and young adults aged 11 – 30.
He said: “There is growing demand for temporary teaching and support in residential schools to replace those on holiday off sick. There’s a slightly different challenge dealing with residential schools in that staff are required 24 hours. Often they are also dealing with people who have learning difficulties and behavioural issues. That said, it is a very rewarding role and for the right candidates the work can fit perfectly around family life.”
Currently Lewis is recruiting for support staff at facilities in Doncaster, Rotherham, Chesterfield and Sheffield. The company is also expanding the service to Goole and Hull.
The service, which is a key part in PK’s expansion plans, is currently being established in the company’s Sheffield office, but is expected to be rolled out to its other offices in Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham and Manchester later this year.
In his spare time, Lewis enjoys cycling and ice skating.
