New York Inspired Diner Launches in South Manchester
Husband and wife culinary entrepreneurs, Gavin and Jane Gosnell, are preparing to launch their newest venture this week on Northeden Road in Sale, south Manchester - a brand new American diner and bar called Mustard.
This duo is no stranger to the area’s restaurant scene having launched the successful Oca at Sale’s Waterside ten years ago, but this restaurant brings a very different concept. You might be forgiven for thinking that an American diner would offer a sentimental throwback to the retro-50s era of pink vinyl seating and a juke box in the corner, but in fact Mustard takes inspiration from the small, stylish eateries in New York’s Soho and Greenwich Village. The £150 000 project showcases industrial architecture with exposed brick-work, polished wooden seating mixed with comfortable booths and other natural and contemporary materials such as zinc are very much on show in the new design.
“Our menu also captures that unique concept that is New York food. A fusion of classic and modern American cuisine, with influences from the country’s Italian, Mexican and Cuban heritage and America’s deep south – and all made with the best quality, freshest locally sourced ingredients.” said owner Jane Gosnell
“We knew that Sale was the location for our new restaurant as we live in the town and love its vibe and people. Sale already has a wealth of European and ethnic restaurants though, so it was crucial that we could offer something different to the social scene – a new culinary concept.”
Gavin Gosnell added: “Then on a trip to New York we were sampling some of the amazing food and the idea emerged of a cool New York-American eatery combining an informal dining concept with great cocktail bar. And so Mustard was born.”
“We are offering a simple menu focusing on putting the best ingredients into New York- American classics; steak burgers, nachos, Cuban pork sandwiches, a Chicken, guac and bacon sandwich and mouth-watering chicken wings. We’ve added some tasty side dishes too including Ox cheek mac and cheese and tempura bacon with marmite aioli. Not forgetting the American dessert favourites for those with a sweet tooth – a rich chocolate brownie, apple pie and Oreo cheesecake. There’s a great bar at the front of the restaurant if you are just looking for a fantastic cocktail or after-work drink - our Mustard Iced Tea is not to be missed! “
“As a father of two I also saw the importance of making Mustard a place for the whole family to enjoy, so we will offer mini portions of our great food for smaller customers, and a daily family brunch complete with poached eggs with hot chicken on toast, a brunch burger and a stack of pancakes or French toast with blueberry compote and cream or maple syrup and bacon.”
Mustard officially opens on Friday June 24, 2016. You can dine on Monday to Saturdays from 10am-10pm, 10am to 8pm on Sundays and offers a daily brunch served 10am-2pm. For more information connect with Mustard on Facebook or @EatMustard
