Nuance Launches Power PDF2
Developments in the field of PDF solutions became more interesting today as Nuance Communications, Inc., announced Power PDF 2, the latest version of its long-standing and popular PDF software. The company claims that the latest version - which has been developed to offer an intuitive and familiar Microsoft Office look and feel - supports Windows 10 touch-enabled 2-in-1 convertible laptop devices. According to the company, Power PDF is responding to the need for business software to support touch-enabled hybrid devices, spurred by the user adoption of Windows 10 and next generation hybrids.
To that end, Power PDF 2 offers added user convenience through the ability to navigate, draw annotations and type using a tablet or notebook and a pen or finger, meaning that users can be productive in the office or on the go, which supports the ever-growing army of mobile or remote workers. For example, the software has a “touch mode” option on its Quick Access Toolbar. This enables the user to optimise the size of toolbars and tool icons so they are easy to press and navigate with a finger.
Nuance makes the valid point that the primary requirements for businesses switching PDF software are ease-of-use, as well as the ability for their staff to adapt to their new software – introducing new solutions that have a learning curve can sometimes hinder adoption. Addressing this issue is Power PDF 2’s interface. Modelled after the Microsoft ribbon interface, it ensures that users can work with the same navigation experience they are already familiar with in Microsoft Office.
Power PDF 2 retains the core functionality of its predecessors, and ultimately enables businesses to easily drive efficient PDF workflows thanks to its ability to create, convert, edit, assemble and securely share PDF files. Building on that, Nuance has optimised Power PDF 2 to benefit from a raft of enhancements, ranging from improved document security, greater accessibility, enhanced productivity and user convenience, improved document intelligence, more intuitive integrations and powerful PDF form support.
Pricing for the new range starts at £79.99 for Power PDF Standard 2 for individuals, home offices and small workgroups, while Nuance Power PDF Advanced 2 is offered for £139.99 with volume discounts available.
