Gardening association facilities bloom thanks to Cheshire housebuilder
Local not for profit gardening group, Alsager Gardens Association, has seen its allotment facilities improved, thanks to support from local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes (DWH) North West.
The group, which runs a community allotment scheme and works to spruce up the local area, successfully applied for funds through DWH North West’s charitable and community scheme, Our Space, Your Place. These funds have been used to provide Alsager Gardens Association with toilet facilities at one of its sites for the first time.
Andrew Taylor, Our Space, Your Place Project Coordinator and Planning Director at DWH North West, comments: “At David Wilson Homes, we are dedicated to building strong communities in areas surrounding our developments. The community association conducts much good work throughout Alsager, which is why we were so keen to help improve the group’s facilities.”
Alsager Gardens Association manages four allotment sites in the town for Alsager Town Council. The group also holds an annual vegetable and flower show, judges the Alsager Best Garden competition sponsored by the town council and runs a trading scheme, where local residents can purchase garden products, such as seeds and fertiliser, at a reduced cost.
The housebuilder’s Our Space Your Space scheme offers support to community groups in the region through volunteering time or funding. Applications can be made through its website: www.ourspaceyourplace.co.uk.
DWH North West has recently scooped a prestigious Five Star award by the National Home Builder’s Federation (NHF) for the seventh consecutive year – the only national housebuilder to achieve this accolade.
